How to Login as Root on Raspberry Pi OS? - RaspberryTips

So it was easy to break something, and also as everyone logs as root, you can't know who change something, it's only "root". So Debian developers have changed this to force the creation of the first user in the installation process and then giving this user a way to elevate his privileges like an administrator: sudo.

ssh - How to login as root remotely? - Raspberry Pi Stack ...

You cannot login as root because Raspbian does not have a root password. See Raspbian root default password Normally ssh does not allow root access because this is considered a security risk. You should be able to do everything you need using sudo (which is the normal Debian practice).

raspbian - Automatically run a program as root for GPIO ...

Adding a sudo in ~/.bashrc should work fine, on a standard Raspbian install the pi user has sudoer permissions already. Alternatively if it is just a single program you wish to run, you can tell it to always run as root. You do this by setting the owner to be root, then telling the file it is always loaded as if the owner of the file opened it.

Running sudo file-manager should be enough to start whatever file manager you have configured. Depending on your setup, you may need to run xhost + as the user who owns the desktop, to allow root processes to connect to it.

Installing the 'real' Debian on Raspberry Pi 3

Raspbian is a heavily customized form of Debian to run on low-powered ARM processors. It's not bad. In fact, it's an excellent OS for Raspberry Pi devices but it's not the real Debian. Debian purists like me would prefer to run the actual Debian over installing the Raspberry Pi's customized Debian version. I trust Debian more than any ...

Installing 64-bit Debian on a Raspberry Pi 4

Bootstrap Debian into it by running debootstrap from another Linux system. Detailed installation process Install Raspbian onto a micro SD card. We're going to install Raspbian and Debian side by side on a single card, so you'll need one with enough space for that. I used a 64GB card, but 16GB should be enough.

How do I run a gui program as root? - LinuxQuestions.org

Since Debian generally runs Gnome, it's likely that it has gksu. gksu is a command launcher for running programs as root. If gksu is not installed on your system, then simply install it (IE, "apt-get install gksu"), and then you can use it.
